"If they think na I’m not qualified eh ‘di maghain kayo ng disqualification case sa Comelec para ma-disqualify talaga ako because if they’re questioning about my qualification, the best place to air ‘yung kung qualified talaga ako is ‘yung Comelec." - Nancy Binay (from an article on Rappler).

When we say that you are unqualified TO BE Senator, it does not necessarily mean that you are unqualified to RUN FOR Senator. We are not asking for you to be DISqualified. We're just saying you are simply UNqualified, not based on COMELEC and Constitutional requirements, but by standards that we place on the people we elect.

And no, COMELEC is not the best place for us to determine if you are qualified. It is in debates and fora where you should be able to face fellow candidates and the people while explaining your platform and positions on issues.

I don't think we're demanding too much from someone who chose to run for office, an act that entails scrutiny from the public and accountability on the part of the candidate.

It's this simple: Don't twist words. Don't overreact. Show up in senatorial debates. Get a dictionary.

This is no longer about prodding Binay to go head-to-head with a fellow senatorial candidate. This is about respecting the electorate. Shrugging off criticisms as irrelevant taunts is an insult to each and every Filipino who value the democratic right to vote.

  1. She (Binay) cannot even give a sensible answer to simple question regarding the qualification of a truly deserving candidate, what more if she gets elected, for democracy's sake everyone has the right to run, but for the country's sake , it would be honorable for you to leave politics with people who gained knowledge through hard work and experience, not by just hanging on to his father's pants during election campaign, do not drag your father's good name in the dumps, give him respect and dignity, do not run as a senator, you don't even know the responsibilities of an SK (Sanguniang Kabataan) president, what more of a senator.

  2. yes!!! philippines politics is going crazy stupid, what the hell got in to their minds to go into politics when they themselves know they are not professionally intelligent enough to be in politics which is the arena of battle of the brain. hello!! nancy binay, pacquiao, and brods Jiinky. lapid. sotto, jv ejercito, erap, revillas come on guys. Think before you click.

    1. they are qualified to be politician because they know that they can win because they are famous and because that is what the people whats today. That is why there is no future in the philippines. And the people are allowing it which makes the people stupid. very very stupid. There is no justice and knowledge in our nation because of this happening in the government. Not just here but all over the world.
